What are some of your professional experiences?

Prior to counseling, I was a special education teacher for two years.  Before that, I was the City of Lawton’s first Youth Services Coordinator.  I’ve also been a social worker/ child abuse investigator and counselor to foster children, so just about every job I’ve ever had involved children and youth.

What got you interested in becoming a teacher?

The opportunity to make a difference in the lives of special needs children, great work hours for a mom with young children.

How do you keep your students motivated?

By helping them see their talents and start using them.  I try to get them to look beyond today and see that they need to prepare for their future now.
