
Coach Melvin Hoskins was born in St. Louis on May 21,1961. He graduated from Soldan High School in 1980. He went to Highland Junior College in 1982, Central Mo State. He also graduated from Southwester Oklahoma State, Cameron University in 1983-1986 and hold a bachelor degree in science, health, and physical education with a minor in drivers education. He played basketball in college. Coach Hoskins teaches study skills, Health, and Adaptive P.E. He has been teaching at MacArthur for 10 years. Coach Hoskins has coached for 19 years. He taught at Eisenhower for two years, Westwood for 2 years, Eisenhower Elementary 1year, and MacArthur Junior High for 8 years. Coach Hoskins as been involved in FCA, OEA, OSAA, OCA. Coach Hoskins has been voted teacher of the month, teacher of the year, and assist basketball coach of the year for 2 years. He wanted to become a teacher because he likes to help young people and he likes to keep his students motivated by telling jokes and doing hands-on activity.
