Dorsay Monroe

Mrs. Monroe teaches Senior English. She was here from 1972 to 1980 then took a break from teaching to raise her kids. Mrs. Monroe then came back in 1991 and has been here ever since. She has a Bachelor's Degree from OSU. Also, a Master's Degree from there in emphasis in British Literature. She says she looks forward to the "MacArthur Experience" everyday. In 1996-97 she received the "Distinguished Achievement Award Nominee" from Lawton Public Schools. In 2003, she got the "Friend of the Highlanders" award for her support and encourage to Mac athletes. Mrs. Monroe got started in teaching because she wanted to live a life of vigor and passion. She enjoys challenges, problem solving, creativity, and communication. She keeps her students motivated by using music in the classroom. This keeps the energy and enthusiasm up in the classroom. She also refers to current movies and TV shows to peak students interest in curricular content. Students learn to relate what they are learning in Senior English to art, history, science, math, and life.
