Pre-enrollment, gym renovations and more this February at MMS

Dear Parents and Students,

Welcome to February at MMS!

With attendance being such an issue, I encourage all parents and students to review the attendance guidelines located within the LPS 2016-2017 Student Code Book. To locate the book, go to www.lawtonps.org. If you have any questions, please contact your child’s grade level counselor. They will be more than happy to provide any explanations.

February is a busy month for our students and families. Feb. 20 is celebrated as President’s Day holiday -- There will be no school for students. The African American Teen Conference was held Tuesday, Feb. 7 in the school library. The program was a unique opportunity for our students.

The renovations to our main gym have started! It is truly an exciting and blessed time for MacArthur Middle! The old bleachers have been removed and the painting is taking place at this time. We are looking forward to the finished product! The estimated date of completion is the first week of March!

Pre-enrollment for next year is currently taking place. 8th grade students pre-enrolled for 9th grade in January. Mrs. Jerri Santos, 8th Grade Counselor, is working with our high school liaisons to ensure all 8th graders are enrolled at MHS. Our 6th and 7th grade students are completing pre-enrollment in February. Ms. Jennifer Hoffman, 7th Grade Counselor, and Mrs. Jerri Santos, 8th Grade Counselor will be points of contact in this
endeavor. Mrs. Courtney Ferguson, 6th Grade Counselor, will be coordinating with our feeder elementary schools to enroll our incoming 5th graders. If you have any questions regarding pre-enrollment for next year, you may contact the counselors of office at 353-5111.

As always, we thank you for supporting the efforts of MacArthur Middle School. Working with our students and their families is truly a pleasure.

Sincerely,

Regina Lambert, principal
