Mrs. Albert-Maez recently attended a workshop at OSU centered on bridging indigenous ways of knowing with western science in preparation for the total eclipse coming up on April 8. She said, "From indigenous understandings of nature, we learned about the impact of solar eclipses on the environment, such as insects, wildlife, and plants, which react to the solar eclipse as if it is all of the sudden night/dusk...We were trained on different ways of modelling the moon's phases to explain the eclipse, and most importantly safe viewing practices; including eclipse viewing glasses and a virtual live streaming option!"
