pie auction

The location will be new and a new event will be added, but the purpose of the Lawton FFA Annual Pie Auction remains the same.

The annual event will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Prairie Building at the Great Plains Coliseum. The meal, which will be an all-you-can-eat taco bar, will begin at 1 p.m. The main attraction, the pic auction, will begin at 1:30 p.m.

Haley Curtsinger, FFA adviser at Eisenhower High School, said each FFA officer is responsible for bringing at least two pies to the auction. And they aren’t just any pies, they must be homemade.

A new activity will be a pie-in-the-face event. Buckets will be set up at a secure table where patrons may make a donation in either the FFA officers’ bucket or the FFA advisers’ bucket. The group with the most donations will get a pie in the face at the end of the pie auction.

“The pie in the face is a new event,” Curtsinger said. “One of the officers brought this idea up.”

Proceeds from the event will go toward FFA events in the spring semester, such as travel to contests, entry fees and meals, Curtsinger said.

The event is open to the public and donations will be taken at the door. Bids will be accepted for the homemade pies. Other homemade desserts also will be available.
