2022 Army JROTC State Champions

Lawton, OK: On April 16, 2022, the JROTC Highlander Battalion traveled to Oklahoma City to compete in the OK Drill Teams State Championships against nine other teams from the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines from all across the state of Oklahoma. 

\r\n

Lawton Public Schools (LPS) is proud to announce that the MacArthur High School Highlander Battalion left the state championship victorious, being named the 2022 Army JROTC State Champion Battalion.

\r\n

Major Craig Redfearn, the Senior Army Instructor for MHS JROTC, commented on the confidence and success of the team.

\r\n

“CSM Batts and I are extremely proud of how hard the teams practiced and how well the teams performed,” Redfearn said. “The successes of our teams were a group effort. This school year's teams have made history being the 1st at MacArthur High School to be called Army JROTC State Champions.”

\r\n

Overall, the UnArmed Drill Team, commanded by cadet Captain Gracie Kimbrell, won 2nd Place during the Inspection, Regulation and Exhibition Phases. 

\r\n

The Armed Color Guard Team commanded by cadet Captain Addy Rosado, won 2nd Place overall. 

\r\n

For Individual Exhibition Drill, Cadet Sergeant Justin Harrill won 2nd Place overall. 

\r\n

The Armed Drill Team commanded by cadet Captain John Kennedy won 3rd Place during the Inspection Phase overall and the UnArmed Color Guard Team commanded by cadet Lieutenant Colonel Jeslyn Hanza won 3rd Place overall.

\r\n

Selected over all other cadet commanders, Cadet Gracie Kimbrell additionally received the Commander of Excellence Award.
